As part of our annual General Assembly meeting in Lisbon (27–30 October 2025), MAGIC hosted a series of workshops designed to share expertise with the wider research community.
The first workshop took place in person at the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine, welcoming more than 50 participants. MAGIC members led discussions on key topics, including:
- Skeletal muscle and satellite cells
- Advanced disease modelling
- Muscle-on-chip technologies
- Gene editing
- Viral vectors
On Tuesday, a hybrid session featured a lively Q&A with a panel of experts exploring the question: “What’s the future of gene therapy?” Eduard Ayuso, David-Alexandre Gross, Gabriela Silve, and Odile Boespflug-Tanguy examined delivery challenges, emerging technologies, and strategies to overcome barriers to bring these therapies to patients.
The final virtual session offered an interactive opportunity for participants to connect with leading researchers, ask questions, and learn more about MAGIC’s work. Experts included Francesco Saverio Tedesco, Peter Zammit, Douglas Millay, and Giuseppe Ronzitti.
